FIONA J. MACKINTOSH
‘Interstate’

The GBP Short Story Prize 2017/18 is currently open to submissions. While it is, we’ll be revisiting last year’s fantastic longlist- and shortlistees, with links to their work.

Our fifth finalist, from the 2016/17 longlist of 13 authors and shortlist of four, is Fiona J. Mackintosh.

FIONA J. MACKINTOSH is a British-American writer who has been widely published in the US and UK. She grew up in Scotland and, after graduating from the University of Edinburgh, moved to London to work in journalism and then to the United States. Her stories have been shortlisted for the Exeter Story Prize and longlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize and Plymouth University’s Short Fiction Prize. She received a 2016 Individual Artist’s Award for Fiction from the Maryland State Arts Council. Fiona lives in the suburbs of Washington D.C. with her husband.

Fiona’s GBP 2016/17 Short Story Prize longlisted story, ‘Interstate’, is available to read here.

You can read another of Fiona’s short stories, ‘The Shape of Things To Come’, here.
