The Galley Beggar Press
Short Story Prize

‘Hansard Objectif’

The GBP Short Story Prize 2018/19 is currently open to submissions. While it is, we'll be revisiting last year's fantastic longlist- and shortlistees, with links to their work.

Our final finalist, from the 2016/17 longlist of 13 authors and shortlist of four, is Joanna Walsh.

JOANNA WALSH’s books include Hotel, Vertigo and Fractals. Her writing has also been published by Dalkey Archive, Granta, Salt, The Stinging Fly, Gorse, and others. She reviews for The Guardian, The New Statesman, and The National. She is fiction editor at 3:AM Magazine, and runs @read_women, described by the New York Times as “a rallying cry for equal treatment for women writers”. Her new short story collection, Worlds From The World’s End, will be published by And Other Stories in September 2017.

Joanna’s GBP 2016/17 Short Story Prize longlisted story, ‘Hansard Objectif’, will be published by Goldsmiths later this year and is no longer available to read here. But you can access another of Joanna’s short stories, ‘Vagues’, here

You can also read an interview with Joanna here
