‘Seeing the werewolf’

The GBP Short Story Prize 2018/19 is currently open to submissions. While it is, we’ll be revisiting last year’s fantastic longlist- and shortlistees, with links to their work.

Our first finalist, from the 2017/18 longlist of 10 authors and shortlist of four, is Paul Bassett Davies.

PAUL BASSETT DAVIES has written and performed for stage, film TV, and radio. He founded the ground-breaking multimedia company Crystal Theatre, and his one-man shows won awards at the Edinburgh Festival. His first novel, Utter Folly, topped the Amazon humorous fiction chart in 2012, and his new novel, Dead Writers in Rehab, was published in May 2017. On radio and television he has worked with some of the biggest names in British comedy, and he produced the Sony Award winning show Do Go On. Paul wrote the screenplay for the animation feature film The Magic Roundabout and has written and directed several short films and music videos. He’s also been the vocalist in a punk band, a welder’s mate and a cab driver, among other things.

Paul Bassett Davies’ 2017/18 GBP Short Story Prize shortlisted story, ‘Seeing the werewolf’, is available to read here.
