‘Seeing the werewolf’
The GBP Short Story Prize 2017/18 longlist was announced on 5 January 2018.
Our first finalist, in a longlist of 10 authors, is Paul Bassett Davies.
PAUL BASSETT DAVIES has written and performed for stage, film TV, and radio. He founded the ground-breaking multimedia company Crystal Theatre, and his one-man shows won awards at the Edinburgh Festival. His first novel, Utter Folly, topped the Amazon humorous fiction chart in 2012, and his new novel, Dead Writers in Rehab, was published in May 2017. On radio and television he has worked with some of the biggest names in British comedy, and he produced the Sony Award winning show Do Go On. His radio plays have featured Bill Nighy, David Hemmings, Linda Smith and Alison Steadman. Paul wrote the screenplay for the animation feature film The Magic Roundabout and has written and directed several short films and music videos. He’s also been the vocalist in a punk band, a welder’s mate and a cab driver, among other things.
