The Galley Beggar Press
Short Story Prize
The GBP Short Story Prize 2018/19 is currently open to submissions. While it is, we’ll be revisiting last year’s fantastic longlist- and shortlistees, with links to their work.
Our third finalist, from the 2017/18 longlist of 10 authors, is Naomi Booth.
NAOMI BOOTH was born in Bradford and has lived in Dewsbury, Cambridge, Oxford, Hebden Bridge, the Netherlands, London, and Brighton. She now lives in York with her partner and daughter, and lectures in Creative Writing and Literature at York St John University. Her first work of fiction, The Lost Art of Sinking (Penned in the Margins, 2015), was selected for New Writing North’s Read Regional campaign and won the Saboteur Award for Best Novella 2016. Her debut novel, Sealed, was published by Dead Ink Books in 2017, and has been described as ‘an accomplished, slow-burning meditation on motherhood, pregnancy and love… a marvellous first novel’ (The Guardian).
Naomi Booth’s 2017/18 GBP Short Story Prize longlisted story, ‘Cluster’, is available to read here.
