The ‘Critical reading, critical writing’ course is an online class taught by Galley Beggar co-director and Guardian journalist Sam Jordison. Places will be limited to 20 people per class, and the course will run for a six-month period, with six classes to a course (running for two hours per session). For the winter / spring 2021 course (beginning January 2021), the selected titles are:

  • Tuesday 19 October 2021 (19:00–21:00) – Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House

  • Tuesday 16 November 2021 (19:00–21:00) – Eric Newby, A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush

  • Tuesday 14 December 2021 (19:00–21:00) – Virginia Woolf, Orlando
