GALLEY BEGGAR PRESS SHORT STORY PRIZE 2025/26
SELBY WYNN SCHWARTZ holds a PhD in comparative literature from the University of California, Berkeley. She is the author of The Bodies of Others: Drag Dances and Their Afterlives, a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award, and the novella A Life in Chameleons.
In 2022, Galley Beggar Press published Selby’s first novel, After Sappho. After Sappho — described by the Guardian as ‘a book that is wholly seduced by seduction and that seduces in turn’ — was longlisted for the 2022 Booker Prize, and shortlisted for the 2023 James Tait Black Prize and the 2023 Orwell Prize for Political Fiction.
