GALLEY BEGGAR PRESS SHORT STORY PRIZE 2026/27

VICTORIA MACKENZIE is a fiction writer, poet and essayist based in Scotland. Her debut novel, For Thy Great Pain Have Mercy On My Little Pain (Bloomsbury, 2023) won the Saltire First Book Award and was a book of the year in the Guardian, Sunday Times, Scotsman and Irish Times. Her second novel, Each Leaf, Each Curve of Stem, about the Victorian art critic John Ruskin, will be published by Bloomsbury in January 2027.
